What Excites You?

28 Jan

Traveling. That’s my answer.

I remember countless conversations about winning it big in the lottery, and what I’d do with my winnings.

I’d travel the world and see more of Europe. Yes, I am in love with Europe, but that deserves another post.

This one is about the day I realised I’d gift my family a quick trip to Disneyland this year for their birthdays, instead of the usual presents, kiddie parties or fancy dinners.

This year, the four of us (the hubby and I, and two toddlers!) are going to see Mickey and Minnie in Hong Kong! And it’s a celebration of “firsts” for our little family:

1) It’s not my first time to see HK, but it is for the hubby and the kids.

2) It’s our first out-of-the-country trip together as a family.

3) First out-of-the-country trip for the toddlers! Yay!

4) A first occassion to celebrate all our birthdays in one day.

5) First trip without a stroller. I read from a blog that HK is not stroller-friendly so hubby and I will each have a kid in tow.

6) First time to see the Disneyland fireworks! I missed it last time because we had an early start and the heat was unbearable. By the time we finished our stroll at the park, we were extremely exhausted and had to run back to the hotel for comfort.

7) First trip without a nanny. Hubby, we can do this!

8) First opportunity for us to save up for the trip. Goodbye, unnecessary expenses and eating out. 😊

9) First time we are sharing a birthday cake!

10) First learning experience for us as a family, as we discover a different culture, see new places and meet new people.

The trip is in November, and it’s only January. I can’t wait!

Yep, I’m excited! See you in a few months, Hong Kong!

Thank you.

As I type this entry on my mobile phone, my three-year-old boy is “typing” on my tummy, pretending that he is working on something.

Add to this “typing” is him being adorable to his Mummy. My heart is rejoicing!

Anyway, last year, I started jotting down things I’m thankful for, and I have over a hundred of them. The exercise was meant to “produce” five things I am thankful for every day, but even with my small handwriting, I only used up three pages.

There were days I’d forget about enumerating them, and there were days I’d exceed the five-per-day requirement.

So here I am again, attempting to simply transfer the exercise from my journal to this blog. To help me fill it with content when I think I do not have anything to write about.

At least, there is always (always) something to be grateful for.

Like this. This very moment when Marcus, my firstborn, is singing “Baa baa black sheep” at 10.45pm.

Thank you, love, for keeping Mum company. It’s way past your bedtime but who cares? When you grow up, you and I won’t have this special pre-bedtime moment anymore.

Thank you, God, for this. Thank you, Universe.

This app.

Blogging from my mobile phone.

I just downloaded the WordPress app for the nth time, and every time I switch phones, I try to really think if I need this app or not.

Well, I downloaded it so, as of this writing, I believe I need it.

I made a promise to myself I’d go back to blogging again. That was last year.

Where am I now? I am nowhere near my goal of becoming a blogger. I hope I can always find the right to thing to write about but there commitments that I tend to prioritise than romancing my keyboard and “penning down” my thoughts.

And I have two adorable toddlers.

Yeap. Workings mums out there would definitely agree with me that juggling home, kids and work is no easy feat.

Here’s to wishing I get to really kickstart my blogging again.

See you ’round.

It’s me,

Marie
